Using Our Year 4 Number Patterns Worksheets

These year 4 number pattern worksheets are a great way to introduce basic algebra concepts and increase your students’ number sense and basic fact skills. They work well as an independent practice activity but can be useful in other settings as well! Here are some additional ideas:

  • Riddle ‘Scoot’ – Cut the riddles at the bottom of Worksheet A apart, and place them around the room. Students or student pairs travel from riddle to riddle, solving them on individual whiteboards or paper as they go.
  • Exit Ticket – Use the top of one of the first two number patterns year 4 worksheets as an exit ticket to assess students’ ability to extend patterns and complete an input/output table.
  • Challenge Activity – Challenge your students to write their own multiplication and division word problems that will generate a list of input and outputs that follow a rule.
