Choose a Number Recognition Assessment to Track Progress

This number recognition assessment set comes with all the assessments you may need to track your students’ progress, including:

  • Numbers 0 – 5
  • Numbers 0 – 10
  • Numbers 11 – 20
  • Numbers 0 – 20
  • Numbers 0 – 50
  • Numbers 51 – 100
  • Numbers 0 – 120

This set includes both the teacher tracking sheet and the student copy of the assessment, so you can follow along and check numbers off as students correctly identify them.

How to Assess Number Recognition

Our Number Recognition Assessment Pack is a fantastic summative assessment, but there are other, more formative ways to assess number recognition as well. Here are a few more ideas:

  • Number Matching: Ask students to match a number to a picture or manipulative with the same value.
  • Number Bingo: Play a Bingo game that requires students to match numbers to word forms, quantities, and other representations.
  • Number Games: Students can play card games that require them to quickly identify numbers and quantities.
  • Digital Practise: Utilise games or apps that require students to recognise and interact with numbers.

Instructions:

  1.   Choose an assessment and print the teacher tracking sheet and student sheet.
  2.   Ask the student to identify the numbers they see.
  3.   Check off each number they correctly identify.
  4.   Write the number of correctly identified numbers at the bottom.
  5.   Administer this assessment several times per year to track progress.
