Ode of Remembrance Poster for the Classroom

Explore the fourth stanza of the poem ‘For the Fallen’ with your class this Anzac Day or Remembrance Day. This classroom poster includes the Ode of Remembrance section traditionally read at commemoration ceremonies, and it’s been designed with poppies to make a beautiful display on your wall.

The poem can be printed on smaller sheets of paper for students to read during your school ceremony or to analyse during individual activities as well! Alternatively, hang it on your classroom wall as a special way to honour the brave men and women of the armed forces while printing the full poem For the Fallen plus poetry analysis worksheets for your poetry lessons!

What Is The Ode of Remembrance?

This traditional Anzac Day poem is the fourth stanza of the longer poem For the Fallen, written by British writer Laurence Binyon during World War One. Here are the words of this particular section:

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun
and in the morning,

We will remember them.
