Practise foundational addition and subtraction facts using the concepts of one more and one less.
One More, One Less, One Amazing Addition and Subtraction Resource!
Prep your youngest mathematicians and get them ready to master their maths facts by starting with the simplest strategy – one more and one less. This worksheet is best used as an independent practise to assess your students’ understanding of foundational maths facts and basic operations.
Using Your 1 More 1 Less Worksheet
In addition to individual student work time, this worksheet can be used for the following:
- Guided maths groups
- Classroom maths station/centre
- Pre-lesson knowledge assessment
- Post-lesson exit ticket
- Whole-class review (via smartboard)
Got fast finishers? Challenge students who have a grasp on the concept by encouraging them to practise with two more and two less and ten more and ten less.
For students who need more support with adding and subtracting 1, provide manipulatives like connecting cubes or counters to help them visualise the concept. Students can also refer to a hundred chart or desk plate.
