Onset and Rime Cut and Paste Activities

In this set of worksheets, created by an early years teacher, students are encouraged to match the onsets with their rimes. For students to grasp this concept they’re developing a foundational skill in early literacy development. In particular, it helps children recognise and manipulate the sound sin words which is crucial in phonological awareness. The word families included in this set of worksheets includes:

  • ‘at’ family
  • ‘it’ family
  • ‘in’ family
  • ‘ug’ family
  • ‘od’ family
  • ‘ab’ family
  • ‘un’ family
  • ‘ot’ family
  • ‘ob’ family
  • ‘en’ family
  • ‘ig’ family
  • ‘et’ family

This set of 12 worksheets includes answer sheets as well for self checking.
