Engage your students with this parallel and perpendicular lines activity that encourages cooperation and problem solving to escape!
Escape the Amusement Park Lockdown in This Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Activity!
Step into the thrilling world of The Amusement Park Lockdown, a digital escape room where students must use their knowledge of parallel and perpendicular lines to solve puzzles and find their way out of a locked-down amusement park. This interactive activity challenges students with a variety of problems based on real-world scenarios and geometric shapes, all while keeping them engaged in an exciting escape room adventure. Perfect for reinforcing key geometry concepts, this parallel and perpendicular lines activity will help students build their skills in a fun and dynamic way.
Tasks include:
- Identifying parallel and perpendicular lines in real-world pictures
- Answering true or false questions about line types in 2D shapes
- Completing a maze by determining the number of parallel or perpendicular lines in 2D shapes
- Answering multiple-choice questions about parallel and perpendicular faces in 3D shapes
- Drawing a 2D shape and answering questions about the line types present in their drawing
An included student notebook allows learners to document their work and track progress. As they complete each task, the next code is revealed, unlocking the next section and bringing them closer to their escape. This parallel and perpendicular lines activity will help your students practise geometry while having fun solving puzzles!
Playing This Geometry Escape Room
All it takes is a little prep work to play this geometry escape room in your classroom, bringing maths to life. Follow these steps to get your students practising line types in no time:
- Download the escape room and the student workbook in the formats of your choice.
- Print and provide each student a copy of the student notebook to assemble in the correct order.
- Ensure students have access to the escape room, whether providing each group with a device to view the slideshow or displaying it to the entire class.
- Put the escape room in ‘slideshow’ mode.
- Instruct students to read each slide and follow the instructions there and in their notebooks. All work should be completed in their notebooks.
- If students complete this parallel and perpendicular lines activity, a congratulatory message will appear! Collect the student notebooks as evidence of student understanding or struggle.
