Play parallel and perpendicular lines games in your classroom to give students practice sorting lines into intersecting, parallel, or perpendicular line categories.
Sort and Learn With Our Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Games!
Make learning about lines exciting with our parallel and perpendicular lines games! In this game, students will sort cards featuring different sets of lines onto mats labelled with these categories, helping them practice identifying key geometric concepts. Teachers can choose to have students check their answers using the mat’s answer key or have them record their responses on the included recording sheet. This hands-on game is perfect for reinforcing geometry skills and can be used in both individual and group settings!

More Game Ideas for This Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Activity
This parallel and perpendicular lines activity includes several play and recording options, but the uses don’t stop there! The cards in this set can be used in many ways. Here are a few to get the creative juices flowing.
- Memory Game – Mix six cards of each card type, and then spread them out face-down in a 6 x 3 array. Students take turns flipping card pairs over, keeping them if they are both the same kind of lines, and flipping them back over if not. The student with the most pairs at the end wins.
- Group Sorting Race – Divide the class into small groups. Give each group a pile of mixed cards and challenge them to sort the cards into parallel, perpendicular and intersecting categories as quickly as possible. The first group to sort them correctly wins the game.
- Flashcards – Use the cards as flashcards for quick review. Students up a card and ask a partner to identify whether the lines are parallel, perpendicular or intersecting.
These parallel and perpendicular lines games are sure to entertain and educate your students.
