Do some pronouns practice with your students using this set of 24 digital peg cards.
Pronouns Practice Using Digital Peg Cards
Personal pronouns are usually the first type of pronouns introduced to young students. They are the pronouns that take the place of a noun in a sentence. Some of the most commonly used personal pronouns are ‘I’, ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘we’, ‘they’ and ‘it’.
Teach Starter has created an easy way for you to do pronouns practice with your students that requires zero preparation! This digital personal pronouns resource includes 24 interactive peg cards, each one containing an image of a person, a group of people, an animal or an object. The students must look at the image and decide which of the three personal pronouns listed is the correct match for the picture. They must then drag a check icon over the correct answer.
This resource downloads as a Microsoft PowerPoint or editable Google Slides file. Simply project it onto your screen, and you have a ready-made activity for pronouns practice!
Looking for answers? These can be found on the last slide of the presentation.
Pronoun Practice with a Twist!
While this resource works perfectly as a whole-class activity presented via an interactive whiteboard, we know that teachers are always looking for options when it comes to content delivery! Here are a few tweaks you might like to apply when using this resource with your class:
- Add Some Student Interaction – A nice tweak on this activity is to use student finger gestures instead of the draggable check icon to indicate the correct answer. For example, students could use their fingers to show whether they think option one, option two or option three is the correct answer.
- Sentence Starters – Once the students have identified the correct pronoun for the image, have them say a sentence using the image and pronoun as a starting point. For example, once the students have identified that the pronoun ‘it’ should be used for a horse, they could suggest sentences such as “It races down the track.”
- Digital Learning Stations – Set up a digital learning station in your classroom where students can complete the personal pronoun digital peg cards in small groups as part of literacy rotations.
