Consonant Digraphs… Two Letters, One Sound!

Let’s start with the tricky terminology! In the world of phonics, a digraph is a two-letter combination that creates one sound. The English language consists of both consonant digraphs and vowel digraphs. Consonant digraphs can be found at the beginning or the end of a word (or anywhere in between), depending on the sound they make.

A Great Addition to Your Classroom Phonics Display

The set of posters highlights a variety of consonant digraphs. Each poster shows the digraph and a variety of words and images containing that digraph. The consonant digraphs included in the poster pack are:

wr (as in wrap), wh (as in why), th (as in thin), sh (as in sheep), ph (as in phone), ng (as in ring), kn (as in knot), ch (as in chest), ck (as in truck).

In addition to displaying these posters in your classroom, you might like to try some of these great ideas!
