Plan Your Own Halloween Party! An Estimation Project for Kids

Get ready for some party-planning fun! Our Halloween-themed activity will engage students to apply their estimation skills in a fun, creative and hands-on way. With set guidelines, students will plan a Halloween party for their year level, including decorations, snacks, games and treat bags. It’s the perfect way to bring the excitement of spooky season into your classroom with a meaningful twist. Let’s get started on this exciting adventure!

No-Prep Halloween Estimation Activity!

This fantastic no-prep resource guides students through creating a budget for each party item and creating an estimate for how much money they will spend in each area. Students must take into account the number of students in the year level and stay within a given overall budget. There are two different options that you can use with your students: one that involves estimation with whole numbers and a two-star version that uses decimals. Students will use their understanding of estimating sums, differences and products to complete this project.

This Project Package Includes:

  • Instructions and Project Description
  • Haunted Party Planning Page
  • A separate worksheet for estimating the amount of snacks, treat bags, decorations and games needed
    • Each page also has additional math questions for students to solve
  • Halloween Budget – A page to calculate the estimated cost of the party
  • Reflection Page
  • Template to create a Halloween party invitation
