Create a visual display of information about the planets of the solar system using this project template.
🪐Make Learning Out of this World with our Planet Project Template
Planet projects are a great way to introduce students to the Solar System. This template is sure to spark your students’ imaginations and result in a lovely display for the classroom. Students choose one of eight planets and fill in a ‘fact sheet’ describing it.
Students will research information such as:
- the general appearance of the planet
- the number of rings
- the number of moons
- the average temperature range
- the duration of its orbit
- and the duration of its rotation.
Students will also get to find 3 fun facts about their planet. This information will then be used to write a paragraph about the planet.
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to independent student work time, use this research project during:
- science lessons
- homework assignment
- end of unit project.
🆘 Support Struggling Students
For students who need additional support, consider assigning a partner or completing in a 1:1 setting. Furthermore, students could only complete the fact sheet and not the writing component. Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, as well as posters and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons.
➕ Challenge Fast Finishers
For students who need an additional challenge, encourage them to find additional information or research more than one planet.
