Multiple Uses for These Procedure Writing Words
Looking for some ideas as to how you might incorporate this procedural writing word wall into your lessons? Here are some ideas from our experienced teacher team:
- Word/Definition Match – Write the definition (or a simple description) of one of the words from the word wall onto the board. Have students find the word in the word wall that matches the definition.
- Word Wall Word Art – Assign each student a word from the word wall. Have students create a visual representation of the word they have been assigned. Display their drawings next to the associated word to reinforce the vocabulary.
- Word Sort – Before placing the cards on your classroom wall, have students sort the cards according to whether they are a structural feature of a procedural text, a grammatical feature of a procedural text or an example of a type of procedural text.
