Pronoun Task Cards for Primary Students

This set of pronouns task cards has been designed by the Teach Starter team to familiarise your students with personal and possessive pronouns. Each task card contains a multiple-choice question for the students to answer. For example:

Choose the correct personal pronoun.
The book is next to the pencil case.

  1. it
  2. he
  3. we

The correct answer, of course, is A!

This resource downloads as a full-colour PDF or editable Google Slides file. Both files contain:

  • Instruction page
  • 24 x task cards
  • Student recording sheet
  • Answer sheet

Multiple Uses for These Pronouns Task Cards

While these task cards make a great independent learning activity, they can be used in lots of other ways, too! Read on for some suggestions from our teacher team:

  • Three Corners – Label three corners of your classroom as Option A, Option B and Option C. Display the task cards in turn on your interactive whiteboard, then have students move to the corner of the classroom that corresponds to what they think is the correct answer.
  • Around the World Game – Have two students stand next to each other, then give them a task card to answer. The first student to answer correctly moves on to the next student, and the process continues until one student has answered enough cards to travel around the classroom.
  • Partner Quiz – Pair students up and give them a selection of the pronoun task cards. One student reads the question while the other answers. Then, they switch roles. They can check each other’s answers and discuss any mistakes together.
