Display a Set of Pronouns Posters in Your Classroom

Pronouns can be a tricky part of speech for students to grasp, mainly because there are so many different types!

This set of 7 pronouns posters has been designed by Teach Starter’s experienced teacher team to remind your students of the most common types of pronouns and their purpose. They provide a great reference point for your students to consult at any time during the school day. The poster pack contains posters for the following types of pronouns:

  • Personal Pronouns
  • Subject Pronouns
  • Object Pronouns
  • Possessive Pronouns
  • Relative Pronouns
  • Reflexive Pronouns
  • Indefinite Pronouns

Each poster clearly explains the focus pronoun type, provides some examples of that pronoun type and includes a model sentence to help students understand how the pronoun functions in everyday writing.

This resource is available as a full-colour PDF or editable Google Slides file. If your school has limited colour printing, we recommend printing in greyscale on coloured paper. You may even wish to enlarge the posters so that they really pop when placed on your classroom bulletin board!

Use These Pronoun Posters in Your Writing Lessons

While these pronoun posters make a great classroom display, they can be used in many other ways in your lessons, too! Here are a few ideas from our teacher team:

  1. Lesson Aids – As you teach each type of pronoun, refer to the posters to reinforce students’ understanding of how pronouns work.
  2. Pronoun Hunt Activity – After introducing a new type of pronoun using the posters, have students find examples of that pronoun type in their reading texts or writing.
  3. Sentence-Building Exercise – Use the posters as prompts for students to create their own sentences. For example, after discussing reflexive pronouns, students can write sentences using words like ‘myself’ or ‘themselves’.

Download and Print These Pronoun Posters

Print and display on your classroom bulletin board. Refer to the display whenever your students need a reminder of which pronoun to use in their writing!
