Change Australian Law One Proposal at a Time!

How does Australia get its laws? By proposing, debating and voting on bills, of course!

Use this worksheet when studying law-making processes during your Civics and Citizenship lessons. Students must think of a new law they would like to propose for their classroom or country, then complete a set of questions.

Further Applications for This Australian Law Activity

Once your students have outlined their new law proposal, they will be bursting to share their idea with the rest of the class!

Why not hold a mock session of Federal Parliament? Allow students to take turns introducing their bill to the rest of the class. Have the students debate the pros and cons of the bill, then vote on whether or not it should pass to the Senate for further discussion.
