Leap Into Learning About Verbs with a New Game!

Hop into your next grammar lesson on verbs with a fun game of Active Verb Puddle Jump! This activity is designed to help your young readers and writers identify examples of action verbs and demonstrate the meanings of common action words. 

Played similarly to musical chairs, the Puddle Jump Game begins by placing the Puddle Jump cards in a circle on your classroom floor. Next, each student will take a place in one of the puddles. Play music in short 10-15 second intervals. While the music is playing, students will hop from puddle to puddle. When the music stops, they look at the word and image on the puzzle they are standing on and act it out!

Studies show that physical activity can boost concentration and learning by increasing blood flow to the brain, releasing neurotransmitters and hormones that improve brain function, and reducing stress and fatigue. Physical activity can also enhance brain structure and plasticity, leading to better learning and memory.
