“Reading Is Magic” Crowns for Book Week 2024

For younger students especially, Book Week is one of the most exciting events on the school calendar. There’s the excitement of getting dressed up as your favourite book character, the hype of the annual Book Week parade and of course, the fun classroom activities provided by the classroom teacher!

To bring this year’s theme to life for our littlest learners, Teach Starter has created this set of three delightful crown templates based on the theme “Reading Is Magic.” Each crown is a little different to cater to your students’ different interests.

  • Crown 1 features a magic castle, a unicorn and a crystal ball.
  • Crown 2 features a mushroom house, a magic wand and a magic mirror.
  • Crown 3 features a wizard, a sorceress, a potion bottle and a new moon.

These crowns are perfect for sparking creativity and celebrating the magic of reading. Read on to discover how you might incorporate these magical crowns into your Book Week 2024 festivities!

How to Use These “Reading Is Magic” Crowns

Looking for some ideas as to how you might use these “Reading Is Magic” crowns during Book Week 2024? Here are some suggestions you might like to consider:

  1. Art and Craft Activity – Turn crown creation into an art and craft activity! Provide students with markers, painters, coloured material, sequins, glue and glitter (if you’re brave enough!) so they can make a truly unique and magical crown.
  2. Act or Write a Story – Have your students write or act out a short story featuring the characters, objects and settings featured on their chosen crown. Students could invite other classes to come and see their plays or read their stories.
  3. Photo Booth Fun –  Create a Book Week photo booth with props and backdrops related to popular magic-themed books. Students can wear their crowns and take photos, capturing the magic of reading and making memories to look back on.
