Boost Rock Cycle Vocabulary Skills With Daily Review!

In upper-level science, students encounter many challenging scientific topics, and academic vocabulary plays a critical role in their ability to understand the content. When learning about topics such as the rock cycle, vocabulary words like “metamorphic,” “sedimentary,” and “igneous” can be difficult to grasp without constant review and use of the words in context. Mastering these terms helps students to confidently discuss, explore, and write about their scientific discoveries. By reinforcing vocabulary through visual aids and daily rock cycle vocabulary practise, students can more easily understand this complex topic and learn to love all things rock-related!

Rock Cycle Review Games for the Classroom

These printable rock cycle word wall cards are extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. Here are a few of our favorite rock cycle review games that are perfect for the classroom.

  1. Rock Cycle Vocabulary Charades: Students draw a card and act out the word or concept without speaking while their teammates guess.
  2. Rock Cycle Headbands Game: One student holds a card on their forehead (without looking) while others give clues about the word. The student guesses based on the clues.
  3. Rock Cycle Pictionary: Similar to charades, students draw the vocabulary term instead of acting it out. Teammates try to guess the term based on the drawing.
  4. Rock Cycle Bingo: Make bingo boards with rock cycle vocabulary words and call out definitions or descriptions. Students mark their boards if they have the correct word. The first to complete a row or column wins.
