A Simple Graphic Organiser to Show Understanding of Roots

Roots and root words crop up as part of your study of morphology in the classroom. This simple template allows students to organise their ideas into sections, thus creating an effective visual learning tool.

The information covered in this graphic organiser includes:

  • origin of the root
  • meaning of the root
  • self-designed picture prompt (as a visual learning aid)
  • examples of words containing the root
  • use of the root in a sentence.

This resource could be used by individuals or in small groups (particularly if you have students who require extra support.)

You could further modify the resource/create new headings by using the Google Slides version.

In addition to individual student work time, use this worksheet as:

Download & Print — It’s Child’s Play!

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or Google Slides version of this resource.

Sustainability Tip: Print a few copies on thick card and slip them into write-and-wipe sleeves. Students can use whiteboard markers to record their answers, then erase and reuse them.
