Rounding Worksheets for Year 4
As your students come to you in year 4, they probably have a basic understanding of how rounding works. They may remember how numbers round up if the digit to the right is 5 or more and stay the same if it is 4 or less. After learning how to round to the nearest 10 or 100 (as they did in year 3), students move towards rounding through the hundred thousands place.
This worksheet is designed to help students master the skills of rounding 6-digit numbers to the nearest tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands or hundred thousands place when presented with a word problem. On the back side of the worksheet, students must analyse 5 statements, determine the error and provide the correctly rounded number.
An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!
Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding
In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:
- Guided maths groups
- Lesson wrap-up
- Fast finishers
- Homework assignment
- Whole-class review (via smartboard)
If there are students who need a bit of a challenge, consider using the editable version and adapting the numbers to include numbers with decimals.
For students who need additional support, provide them with a place value sheet and/or a reference page to remind them of the rules of rounding.
