Discuss safe and unsafe situations with this set of scenario task cards.
Safe and Unsafe Scenarios for Daily Discussions!
Teaching our students the basics of keeping safe and what to do if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable is crucial to your social-emotional lesson planning.
Each card has a scenario, and the children are then asked: ‘I this safe or unsafe?’ These scenario cards can be used in a variety of ways, including the following:
- Use in a small group and have students pick a card and then discuss why they think the scenario is safe or unsafe.
- As a whole class, the teacher reads out the scenario, then students either put thumbs up for safe or thumbs down for unsafe and then hold a discussion.
- Daily morning activity. Write the scenario on the board and have students write their response and why they feel that way.
- As a small group, sort the cards into safe and unsafe piles and then write down what they would do in each unsafe scenarios.
