Real-Life Scenarios – Safe or Unsafe and When to Ask for Help
This interactive activity provides students with real-life scenarios and helps them understand a safe or unsafe situation. Each real-life scenario provides a fantastic opportunity to discuss what is happening. Why not have your students complete a Y-Chart Graphic Organiser? This gets them thinking about what they may see, what they may hear and what they may feel. Talking about feelings and trusting your guy in different situations is something that the students need to understand.
With the unsafe situations, you may like to take this further and ask the students what they may do in each situation.
Here are some example scenarios:
- Vinny was climbing on the monkey bars. He heard a loud boom and then saw lightning. He kept climbing. Is this a safe or unsafe situation?
- It was a pretty sunny day at the park. Megan put sunscreen on before she went to play. Is this a safe or unsafe situation?
- Nicole found a lunch box at the park. She opens it up to find what looks like lollies. Her friend thinks they should eat it. Is this a safe or unsafe situation?
