Teach multiplication using the skip counting strategy with this fun, interactive digital teaching resource!

Skip Count to Multiply! Interactive Multiplication Game

Skip Counting and Multiplication is is an engaging set of interactive slides to practise using skip counting to solve multiplication expressions. Students will complete a series of garden-themed maths tasks to develop an understanding of the relationship between skip counting (repeated addition) and multiplication, and learn how they can use this strategy to solve operations.

Included in this slide deck are 8 garden-themed slides, each with a unique task to practise the concept. There is a teacher key provided as well.

How to Play:

To use this resource in the classroom, students will follow the on screen directions to complete each activity. It may be beneficial to review the tools in Google Slides prior to students working independently, such as the paint bucket tool and line tool. Students can work in whole group, in small groups, or individually to complete the tasks, and teachers can easily check work with the key provided.

Through this activity, students will show recognise and represent multiplication as repeated addition sequences.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your maths lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this activity to enhance learning through guided math groups, whole class lessons, or remote learning assignments.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, we have a few suggestions for keeping students on track with these concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Provide a skip counting list or multiplication chart as a reference.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

As an extension, challenge students to solve more complex multiplication facts beyond 10, such as skip counting by 12.

🧑‍🏫 Group Learning

Project the slides onto a screen and work through them as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks or mini whiteboards.
