Skip Counting Puzzle Fun in Grade One

Are you teaching skip counting in your Grade One patterns and algebra lessons? This 7-page digital interactive activity will delight your young students! To complete the strip puzzle, little mathematicians must squence the skip counting pattern, using their early tech skills to drag the puzzle pieces into position on-sceen!

To play, create a copy for each student and assign it on their individual device (in Creation or Edit mode). Alternatively, project on your smartboard or a shared device as a maths group activity or warm up!

Through this activity, students will show their ability to recognise, describe and create additive patterns that increase by 10, 10 and 100!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

A team of dedicated, experienced educators created this resource to support your maths lessons.

In addition to individual student work time, use this activity to enhance learning through guided maths groups, whole class lessons, or home assignments.

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners and ELL/ESL students, we have a few suggestions for keeping students on track with these concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

For students who need additional support, provide visual cues like skip counting charts or a hundreds board, and first focusing on two-digit numbers only.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

If there are students looking for a challenge which will also engage their fine motor skills, have students create their very own skip counting puzzle using coloured paper, pencils and scissors.
