A Mini-Book Just for Story Settings!
One of the first narrative elements we teach to our littlest learners is setting. The setting of a story has two main parts: where the story is taking place, and when the story is taking place. The setting may also have additional elements, such as what the weather is like or what the mood is like. These are often described as the environmental factors of the setting.
This mini-book has been designed to help your students explore the settings from two books they have recently read. The students will:
- Write and draw to describe the setting of the first book chosen.
- Write and draw to provide more details about the setting.
- What was the weather like?
- What was the mood like?
- Describe the setting using the senses.
- Describe the setting using words used by the author.
- Write and draw to describe the setting of a different book.
- Compare and contrast the settings of the two books chosen.
How to Create This Story Settings Mini-Book
This resource contains four pages. Each page includes two mini-book pages (8 pages in total). To assemble the mini-book, follow these simple steps.
- Print out the resource. Create copies as required.
- Cut each page along the dotted line.
- Compile the pages in order.
- Staple the pages along the left-side margin to create a booklet.
- Distribute to the students.
