Practise a Variety of 2-Digit Subtraction Strategies with Handy Maths Puzzles

When teaching subtraction to primary school students, visual aids like ten frames and number lines can be helpful. These tools provide a tangible representation of numbers and equations, making it easier for youngsters to grasp the abstract concept of subtraction. By engaging with these aids, students are more likely to understand the process of subtraction.

To help your young maths students master their 2 Digit subtraction skills, consider using this set of printable subtraction puzzles as a fun and challenging maths station. To reinforce their understanding, the puzzles challenge them by presenting number students with a number sentence using two-digit numbers. Students will solve and match different subtraction problems with their solution using a strategy of choice

We’ve included 36 puzzles, an answer key, and an optional recording sheet for you to use if you’d like your students to solve the puzzles and record their answers for accountability.
