Implement coding for kids with a printable coding robot map activity.
What is a Coding Robot?
It seems like a simple question to answer, but it takes a bit of research and lots of play to figure it out. There are hundreds of different types of coding robots for kids, and no two are the same, but they are all built with the same goal in mind. These robots encourage young learners to problem solve and become interested in science, mathematics, and technology.
Unlike the robots we’re used to seeing in movies and TV shows, coding robots are not intelligent beings. Instead, they’re toys that can be programmed to perform fun functions and often have to be assembled as part of the process.
These neat robots encourage the development of various STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) skills while keeping kids engaged and entertained. Critical thinking skills are encouraged through both the construction and programming processes.

We’ve put together a treasure of a resource on this one. The minute you get your hands on a coding robot, download and print this fun coding robot map to put your students’ coding skills to the test. This coding robot map serves double duty in the classroom when learning about direction, location and coordinates.
Students pick a task card and follow the directions given to move their coding robot around the treasure map.
Make sure to check the download options. You have the choice of downloading the full mat. Alternatively, we have included individual tiles with tabs.
If you are having issues with printing selections for the full mat, it is best to use individual tiles.
