Valentine’s Day Vocabulary and Writing Activities

Why not bring a bit of “love” to your writing groups with a Valentine’s Day word wall and writing prompt resource?

Each of the sixteen vocabulary cards includes a large-print, easy-to-read Valentine’s Day word and an image to aid retention. We have also included four accompanying worksheets to have students practise identifying the new vocabulary words and using them in their writing.

Through this activity, students will show increased vocabulary and improvement in writing informational text.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If you have a mixture of above and below-level learners, check out these suggestions for keeping students on track with the concepts:

🆘 Support Struggling Students

Help students who need support understanding the concepts by completing the book in a 1-on-1 environment or with a small group. Additionally, students can reference previous classwork, posters or anchor charts when completing this activity.

➕ Challenge Fast Finishers

For students who are fast finishers, encourage them to have a go expanding their Valentine’s Story even further.
