Verbs Used in Images Activity for Kids
This engaging activity will have your students looking for different verbs in images that they can relate to. Kids at the playground and people at the beach. In this activity, students are asked to list the different verbs they can see in two different scenes. A verb place mat with all of the words is also included in the download and can be used to provide students with extra assistance. Or to extend other students, you may like to get them to try and work out the verbs in each scene without using the place mat.
Words included in these scenes are:
Climbing, kicking, pulling, catching, sitting, digging, jumping, patting, floating, throwing, running, building, splashing, swimming, laying and watching.
Learning Verbs Through Images
When students are learning about verbs, an activity such as this provides an engaging way to help children understand and remember action words by linking them to the visuals occurring in each scene. This method obviously helps those visual learners in your classroom and makes it easier for kids to grasp the meaning of verbs by applying them to real-world contexts.
The best thing about this versatile resource is that it can be done individually or in small groups. It can also provide a fantastic hook activity to do at the start of the lesson for the whole class by projecting the image onto the white board.
