Do You Really Need a Classroom Reward System? Absolutely!
It is crucial to have a classroom reward system for several reasons.
- It provides positive reinforcement, encouraging students to continue working hard and achieving academic success.
- It is a motivational tool, boosting student engagement and participation in class activities.
- A reward system aids conduct management by setting explicit expectations and encouraging appropriate conduct.
- It fosters a growth mindset by recognising effort and progress. It contributes to a positive classroom culture which makes students feel valued and loved. A good system also reinforces essential values and skills beyond academics and helps develop social and emotional skills.
- It improves teacher-student relationships by supplying positive interactions and recognition opportunities.
We are Working For… Ice Cream Class Reward System
To use your new behaviour system, print your templates and display them in your classroom. Once your new students arrive, introduce the system as follows. You will
- Choose a reward and a desired amount of ice cream scoops to earn.
- When students show ‘ sweet ‘ behaviour, use velcro or sticky tack to add ice cream scoops to the cone.
- Students will earn the class reward when the desired amount of scoops has been achieved.
This is an entertaining and effective way to reward your students for positive behaviour, collaboration, and teamwork.
