School holidays are approaching, so let’s get you ready for all those upcoming special events in your calendar! We have created a fun and engaging Remembrance Day interactive activity for early years students. Use this Google Slides presentation in edit mode for independent or whole-group activity in the weeks surrounding Remembrance Day.
This resource includes a series of 7 activities that will have your students completing the following.
- Completing sentences about Remembrance Day, its date, and who it commemorates.
- Matching images and labels representing the branches of the Armed Forces.
- Sorting images that depict things related to the different branches of the Armed Forces.
- Learning about the meaning of the red poppy and creating a red poppy wreath.
- Discovering Remembrance Day traditions such as the moment of silence.
Ways to Integrate Your Interactive Remembrance Day Lessons
We created this resource for circle time and reading lessons. In addition, we suggest these alternative uses to reinforce reading skills and new vocabulary words with your small group and full-class lessons:
- Complete the activity as a whole group, discussing military branches, looking at pictures beforehand, etc.
- Complete the activity AFTER reading our Remembrance Day Mini book and allow students to use it as a reference.
