Printable Counting Card Game
Use this fun comparison card game to help students compare and order numbers in a collection up to 20. These versatile cards contain pictorial representations of numbers 1 through 20 and can be used in a number of engaging ways in the classroom. Print out these cards on thick card and cut along the dotted lines to create a set of reusable class cards. Store them in a resealable bag for extra longevity.
How to Play ‘Which Is More?’
There are two ways to play with these fun cards during Maths Group Activities:
- Divide the cards between two students. Each student plays one card, and together, they determine which card shows a greater number. The person who played that card gets to keep both of the cards. The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner.
- Alternatively, use these cards as an independent activity. Encourage your student to shuffle the cards up and order them from 1 to 20.
Differentiation for Comparing and Ordering Numbers Using These Cards
- Scaffold the use of these cards by introducing them in a whole class or small group game. Hold up two cards and encourage your students to choose which is more. Students can count the collections together and make their own decisions.
- Extend students independently by laying out a selection of cards and encouraging them to order the cards with some integers missing.
