The Battle of the Plants – Who Would Win? Adaptations Showdown!

Get ready for a Science Showdown with Teach Starter and our newest interactive game! This “Who Would Win” inspired slide game is the perfect way to sum up your unit on plant adaptations that aid in survival in different climates.

This engaging interactive game designed to enhance students’ understanding of plant adaptations and their role in survival. In this game, students are presented with a series of challenging environments, each with its unique conditions. Their task is to analyse two plants and determine which one has the adaptations necessary to survive in the environment shown. Just a few of the plant battles included are:

  • Venus Flytrap vs. Cactus – Desert Showdown
  • Ghost Plant vs. Saskatoon Berry – Arctic Showdown
  • Monstera Plant vs. Yucca – Rainforest Showdown
  • And more!

In each plant battle, students are shown a particular environment and two plants. Using their observation skills and prior knowledge, students will discuss and determine which of the two plants has the needed adaptation for survival. If they choose the correct plant, they are advanced to an explanatory slide and will continue the game. If they choose incorrectly, they are redirected to try again and continue working through the battles.
