Learning How to Tell Time is Sweet!

Maths practice doesn’t have to be boring, and it doesn’t always have to be worksheet-based, either! Some of the best-laid plans tend to be the simplest, and your students may just latch onto a concept twice as easily by simply providing something new and novel for them to work with. That’s where we come in!

Match Analogue, Digital, and Word Forms of Times with a Printable Year 2 Telling Time Math Center

The Teach Starter team has been busy ‘churning’ out brand new resources to help you supplement your Math lessons on telling time to the hour and half hour. Perfect for first and year 2 students, this ‘sweet’ little telling time matching game is going to be a hit when you put it in your maths station rotation.

To play the Ice Cream Time matching game, students will

  1. Pick up an ice cream cup and look at the clock.
  2. Say the time that is showing and find the two matching ice cream scoops that show the same time.
  3. Make sure to find two scoops of ice cream for each cup and stack one on top of the other.

And that’s it! Using this printable time-telling resource, your students get a sweet new maths station to interact with, and you get a quality teaching tool that saves you loads of time when lesson planning.

This resource includes a set of 24 time-telling match-ups, with each match-up consisting of three ice cream cone pieces.
