Simple Conversation in Auslan Video

Teach Starter Publishing
1 min | Years: 1 - 6

Teach children how to meet and greet one another in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) with this one-minute instructional video.

Say Hello in Auslan!

If your students have mastered the art of fingerspelling and are looking to take their Auslan interactions to the next level, then this is the video for you!

In this quick one-minute video, students will learn how to have a simple conversation with a partner entirely in Australian Sign Language! Tegan from Deaf Connect will walk the students through the following conversation:

Hello.
How are you?
I’m good.
My name is (fingerspell name).
What’s your name?
Have a good morning.
See you later.

Pause the video to help your students learn the various signs, then see if they can put the whole conversation together!

Share These Auslan Greetings with Others

They say the best way to consolidate your understanding of a newly learned skill is to teach it to others!

Once your students have mastered the Auslan expressions from the video, why not have them share this great knowledge with other members of the school community? Have students visit other classes around the school to teach simple Auslan expressions such as ‘Hello,’ ‘How are you?’ and ‘See you later.’ Perhaps even the school office staff and school principal could be taught a thing or two about Auslan by your highly informed students!
