Practise following directions to colour and draw pictures with a printable listening activity worksheet pack.
Start the School Year with Listening Activities for Kids!
At the beginning of a new school year, it’s always tough to get your students back into the swing of things. They’ve been out of the classroom for a while, and following directions is always a skill that needs to be revisited at the beginning of the year. We’ve found a fun way to blend art and listening skills with this printable pack of listen-and-draw worksheets.
A Great Lead-in to Whole Body Listening!
Use this teaching resource to refine listening skills. We recommend exercises like these at the beginning of the year to help ease your students into the concept of whole body listening.
This resource includes four different scenes for students to use and instruction scripts for the teacher. After choosing and distributing a scene to each student, the teacher reads the appropriate script, pausing after each instruction to allow time for students to complete it. Students add to the scene in various ways – by colouring, writing words, or drawing an item.
As this activity is designed to improve listening skills, the goal is for students to hear each instruction once only. So as hard as it might be – don’t repeat any of the instructions.
This activity is perfect to use in conjunction with other speaking and listening teaching resources such as the Is It True? Listening Activity or the Colour Me Carefully Worksheets.
