A poster examining what happens when you sleep, the benefits of good sleep and healthy sleeping patterns.
What happens when you sleep?
Sleep is a state of rest when most of the muscles you can control on purpose are inactive and relaxed. You are in a mostly unconscious state, meaning that you do not react to stimuli as fast as when you are awake.
What are the benefits of good sleep?
Sleeping regularly is essential for your survival. It is important to get enough sleep for your body and brain to be healthy and work properly.
How do you get into a healthy sleeping pattern?
Forming a sleeping pattern can help you fall asleep and maximise the effects of sleep. Waking at the same time each day; sleeping in a cool, quiet and dark place; avoiding a big meal before bedtime; and getting enough exercise every day, can help.
