Use these sound button flashcards with younger students to help them break up words into individual phonemes.
Each list has a particular phonemic focus, as listed below.
- Red – words that contain the ‘ck’ digraph.
- Turquoise – words that contain the ‘ng’ digraph.
- Yellow – words that contain the digraphs ‘ai’ and ‘ay’ and the split ‘a_e’ digraph.
- Lilac – words that contain the digraphs ‘ee’ and ‘ea’.
- Orange – words that contain grapheme ‘y’, the digraph ‘igh’, and the split digraph ‘i_e’.
- Light Pink – words that contain the grapheme ‘o’, the digraph ‘oa’, and the split digraph ‘o_e’.
- Light Green – words that contain the grapheme ‘f’ and the digraph ‘ff’.
- Brown – words that contain the grapheme ‘l’ and the digraph ‘ll’.
- Magenta – words that contain the digraphs ‘oi’ and ‘oy’.
- Light Blue – words that contain the digraphs ‘ow’ and ‘ou’.
- Teal – words that contain the digraphs ‘ur’, ‘ir’ and ‘er’.
- Dark Green – words that contain the digraph ‘ar’.
- Fuchsia – words that contain the digraphs ‘ew’ and ‘ue’ and the split ‘u_e’ digraph.
