Let’s Work Out Why Verbs Are Very Important!

This worksheet is a fabulous resource for individual practice at using verbs within the context of a familiar story. Use this worksheet to review the important role verbs play in making sentences make sense. It is the perfect addition to your English lessons when studying sentence structure and parts of speech.  

Students recall the story of The Gingerbread Man and use this knowledge to complete sentences with an appropriate verb. An explanation of verbs is included and students practise how to use verbs to describe an action in each sentence.    

To help differentiate in your classroom, we have provided one version as a cloze exercise and the other as an open-ended activity. A version that has no illustration is also included as a download option. Use this version with students who find the illustration to be below their age level.
