Link your students’ learning to current world events with this newspaper article project, and students will become reporters about King Charles III Coronation. Take your students on a journey where they learn about what will happen at the King’s coronation and then use a mindmap to plan out what they are going to include in their news article.
Constructing a newspaper article can be a great way for kids to learn about a variety of topics, such as:
- Research – students learn about the skills of research.
- Writing skills – writing a good newspaper article requires knowledge of particular writing skills. Students will learn how to organise their thoughts and ideas and write in clear and concise sentences.
- News values – kids learn the value of keeping up with world events and the news.
- Editing and revising – students learn the important process of editing and revising their own work.

All you need to do to get this lesson started is to hit download and print copies of this booklet for each student. The task is clearly written on the front of the booklet and graphic organiser will help them to get their thoughts in order. This would also be a great homework task.
