Learn your new pupils' likes and dislikes with this learning preference sheet.
Learn Your Pupils’ Learning Preferences on Day 1
Every child has different learning preferences. Some prefer to learn in a quiet environment while others prefer to learn with sounds such as music or background noise. Some prefer lessons that include partner or class discussions, while others prefer movement or visuals to look at or to draw. One thing that all pupils have in common though is that they all learn best when we can incorporate as many of their preferences and topics of interest as we can into each learning experience.
Why Are Learning Preferences Important?
Understanding how your pupils learn is probably one of the most important parts of being a teacher. It allows them to get the most from their school experience and helps you choose the best curriculum and environment for each pupil. Therefore, taking time during the initial getting-to-know-you period at the beginning of the school year to start to learn each pupil’s learning preferences is crucial.
Once the sheets are complete, file them away in your pupil files to be able to refer back to throughout the year.
