Head Off on a Scavenger Hunt – Library Style!
Scavenger hunts are a fun way to get your pupils up and moving during the day, and our teacher team designed this activity with key stage 2 pupils in mind. The items pupils need to find should all be in your school library!
Your pupils will search for specific things, like a book published before 1980 (ancient, right?!) and a nonfiction text about spiders. This would also work great at the beginning of the school year on a school tour or as a team-building activity.
Whether you are using the printable as a brain break or to celebrate a specific event, pupils LOVE scavenger hunts!
What Is a Library Scavenger Hunt?
If this is a new concept for you, you’re in luck. The Teach Starter team has everything you need to know about this library-themed adventure!
A library scavenger hunt is a game or activity that involves searching for specific items, information or clues within a library setting. It could be the school library or even the library in your community.
The hunt is a fun and interactive way to explore and familiarise your class with the resources and services offered by a library. That makes it perfect for a first day of school or first week of school activity, especially for pupils who are new.
Scavenger hunts help introduce new users to the layout and various sections of the library. By searching for specific items or locations, your pupils will become familiar with where different materials are located so they can get comfortable using this wonderful school resource.
