A worksheet to practise the addition strategy of making 10.
This worksheet is a great way for students to practise the addition strategy of making ten.
For this activity, it is best to use two coloured counters or two different coloured connecting cubes so that the students can visually see the two addends being put together. Using one of the colours, students count out the number shown in the number bond. Then, using the second colour, the students add more counters to make 10. Finally, they complete the number bond and equations using their objects.
Slip the sheet inside a ‘write and wipe’ sleeve and use it as a maths group activity. Students complete the worksheet using a whiteboard marker, and then wipe it clean when they are done. Alternatively, project the worksheet on your whiteboard and complete it together as a whole class.
An answer sheet is included in the download.
