Use this poster to demonstrate the role of primary producers in the marine ecosystem food chain.

Primary producers synthesise sunlight and nutrients to form the basis of the food chain.

This poster highlights the role of Phytoplankton in the marine food chain.

Phytoplankton is consumed by Primary Consumers (Sea Stars, Shrimp, Zooplankton, Snails, Whales, Small Fish, Sea Jellies) which are, in turn, consumed by Secondary Consumers (Fish, Whales, Sharks).

During this process, the remaining dead bodies and waste is broken down by decomposers (crabs, coral, molluscs) which is then used by Primary Producers to begin the cycle again.
