Strong Sentence Starters
The way a story starts is very important. The first couple of sentences should make the reader want to find out more about your story and keep reading.
Describe it!
Using adjectives:
- The hairy, scary spider.
- Using the ‘6 senses’: What do you see, hear, touch, taste, smell and feel (emotions)?
Grab your reader’s attention!
- Using sounds: BANG! The door slammed behind me.
- Using dialogue: “Quick, it’s about to blow!” screamed the frightened woman.
