Use this Easter Bunny poem for kids as a basis for some Easter fun in your classroom!

An Easter Poem for Kids

Once I saw the Easter Bunny
Come hop, hop, hop.
So I cried, “Dear Bunny,
Will you stop, stop, stop?”

If you’re looking for a short and fun Easter poem to use in your classroom this Easter season, you can’t go past this simple two-verse poem. When engaging with this text, your students will learn about some of the key elements of poetry. They will also enhance their phonological awareness as they listen to rhyming pairs such as hop/stop and do/you.

This poster displays the complete poem in a child-friendly font, making it accessible for early readers to follow along.

Fun Activities to Accompany This Easter Bunny Poem

Once your students have read the poem, there are multiple ways for you to extend their engagement with the content. Here are some ideas you might like to consider:

  1. Shadow Puppet Play – Have students create a shadow play based on the poem. Use a simple setup with a flashlight and cut-out characters (the Easter Bunny, the child) to act out the poem’s events.
  2. Bunny Footprint Craft Activity – Recreate the magic of the Easter Bunny’s visit by having students make bunny footprints. Use card to cut out footprints and let students decorate them with craft accessories.
  3. Design a Bunny Burrow – Have students design the ultimate Easter Bunny burrow, taking into consideration all the things the Easter Bunny would want and need in their house! Students could then build their burrows using a variety of recycled materials.
