Paralympic Games Write The Room Activity

Are you looking for an interactive way to teach your pupils about the Paralympics while simultaneously reinforcing their vocabulary and writing skills? Our Paralympic Write-The-Room activity offers just that! This vocabulary-building activity is designed to captivate your pupils’ attention and make learning about the Paralympic Games fun and educational.

How to Set Up the Paralympic Games Writing Centre

Here’s how you can easily integrate this vocabulary and writing activity into your classroom:

  1. Place Vocabulary Cards: Distribute the 24 vocabulary word/picture cards around the room or place them in a designated Writing Station. Each card features a word or image related to the Paralympic Games.
  2. Vocabulary Exploration: Have your pupils explore the cards, identifying the vocabulary words and discussing what they know about the words they find.
  3. Read and Write: Provide pupils with books, pictures, etc. and have them use the words to write what they know about the Games and events using the vocabulary words and the included writing templates.

Benefits of a Write-the-Room Activity

Using this activity offers several advantages:

  • Enhances Literacy Skills: It helps build vocabulary and improves literacy skills through an engaging format.
  • Assess Understanding: It provides a fun way to gauge your pupils’ grasp of the topic after a lesson.
  • Keeps Pupils Engaged: The potential kinesthetic nature of this activity is particularly beneficial for pupils who find it challenging to sit still for long periods.
