Printable hundred charts are here! Make fundamental number concepts easier to grasp with this must-have tool for teaching math in the primary grades! Print and use the 100-square grid for number games, set up hundred chart-based games in your math centers, and more! Every teaching resource in this math collection has been created by a teacher and has undergone a rigorous review by the teachers on the Teach Starter team to ensure it’s ready to download and use in your classroom.
What Is a 100 Chart?
Teaching math for the first time this year or maybe the first time in a while? A 100 chart is a handy tool for teachers and students with a 10-by-10 grid and the numbers one to one hundred printed in the grid squares. Some 100s charts are blank for students (or teachers!) to fill in, while others already have the numbers. Whether they’re pre-filled or blank, a hundred chart template can be used to teach a variety of math skills, including (but not limited to!):
- Number Sense
- Counting
- Skip Counting
- Adding
- Multiplication
- And more!
How to Use a Hundred Chart
There are many uses for a hundred chart in your classroom when teaching mathematical concepts such as counting, exploring number combinations, learning place value, and becoming familiar with number patterns. Here are just a few ideas on using a 100s chart from the teachers on the Teach Starter teacher team:
- Have students practice writing their numbers on a blank hundred chart
- Assign a color to “odd” numbers and “even” numbers, and challenge students to follow the key
- Display your hundreds chart on your classroom wall as a reference for students (Some of our charts are even themed to add to your classroom decor!)
What’s the Difference Between a Number Chart and a Hundreds Chart?
You may notice that every 100-chart teaching resource in this collection has been selected only to include groups of 10 squares to showcase true hundred charts. While our teacher team has created plenty of number lines and even an Interactive Base-10 activity for students to virtually manipulate place value blocks, a 100 chart has its place too! This tool helps students to better grasp sequencing and make sense of place value.
