What Is World Wildlife Day?

World Wildlife Day (WWD) is an annual event that takes place on March 3rd to celebrate and raise awareness about the world's wild animals and plants. The day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 to celebrate the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) on March 3rd, 1973.

The goal of World Wildlife Day is to celebrate the world's wild animals and plants and raise awareness about their conservation. The day also serves as a reminder to protect endangered species and their habitats, and to address illegal wildlife trading.

In 2024, the UN has chosen "Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation" as the theme to highlight the people who are making a difference in the field.

How Can You Teach About World Wildlife Day?
