Celebrate the coming of Halloween and practice adding 2-digit numbers up to 99 with a set of addition color by number worksheets.
Halloween is approaching, and it’s time to bring a little spookiness right into the classroom!
Halloween Mystery Pictures for the Win
Through this Halloween math activity, students will show they can use addition strategies to add two-digit numbers within 100 by understanding place value and composing 10. These worksheets require students to solve problems involving two-digit addition without regrouping.
Provide each student with a copy of the hidden picture grid and accompanying color key. Students will also need a sheet of scrap paper or a dry-erase board to work out each of the problems.
Addition Color by Number = Student Engagement
Students love to color, and they love Halloween even more! This grouping of color-by-number worksheets gives them both of those at once! Support students who need help understanding the concepts using base-ten blocks to model the addends. They can also use a number, line, or hundreds chart to help find the sum.
Challenge early finishers who already understand the concept to write word problems that practice the addition problems from the task cards.
